About Dr. Henry

Dr. Jensen Henry, MD, is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York — consistently ranked the top hospital in the U.S. for orthopaedic care. She also serves as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Born and raised in Nebraska, Dr. Henry completed her undergraduate degree in Zoology and Neuroscience at Miami University, graduating summa cum laude, and was a varsity swimmer on the Division I women’s team. She earned her MD at New York University School of Medicine (NYU), where she also spent an additional year conducting orthopaedic research and graduated with the Excellence in Musculoskeletal Medicine Award.

Dr. Henry completed both her orthopaedic surgery residency and foot & ankle fellowship at HSS — combining rigorous training with specialized expertise in foot and ankle pathology.

Her clinical focus spans the full breadth of foot and ankle care: from sports- and trauma-related injuries (ankle fractures, Achilles ruptures) to chronic and degenerative conditions (ankle arthritis, hindfoot deformity, flatfoot), including complex reconstructive procedures and joint-preserving techniques.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Henry is deeply committed to research and improving long-term outcomes for patients. She co-founded the HSS Total Ankle Replacement Registry and contributes to the HSS Total Ankle Replacement Center — using data, technology, and collaborative care strategies to refine ankle arthroplasty and deformity-correction outcomes.

Her research interests include ankle arthritis, ankle replacement (arthroplasty), biomechanics, foot deformity, and flatfoot reconstruction. She has received multiple research grants (from Orthopaedic Research & Education Foundation [OREF], Orthopaedic Research Society [ORS], and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society [RJOS]) and has authored peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, presenting findings at national and international meetings.

Dr. Henry’s approach blends technical precision, evidence-based decision making, and patient-centered care — always aiming to restore mobility, function, and quality of life for her patients.

She currently sees patients in both Manhattan (Upper East Side) and Brooklyn, allowing access across the greater NYC area.

Philosophy of Care

I believe in treating people — not just X-rays or diagnoses. That means taking the time to learn what matters to you, whether that’s pain-free walking, returning to athletics, maintaining long-term foot health, or simply keeping up with daily life.

Every treatment plan is patient-specific, informed by evidence, grounded in research, and designed around your goals. I offer the full spectrum of care — from non-operative strategies (physical therapy, orthotics, bracing, injections, custom footwear, lifestyle optimization) to advanced reconstructive and joint-preserving surgery — and help you determine the approach that best supports your needs.

When surgery is the right option, my role is to provide clear recommendations, realistic expectations, and meticulous preparation so that outcomes are consistent and recovery is as safe and smooth as possible.

My goal is straightforward: to restore mobility, function, and quality of life so you can get back to what you love — whether that’s walking your dog, running, hiking, dancing, or simply moving without pain.
