Why HSS?

The center for orthopaedic excellence in the center of New York City.

Best hospital, best results.

Founded in 1863, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is the oldest orthopaedic hospital in the US. It is the world’s leading academic medical center for musculoskeletal health, and has been ranked No. 1 for orthopaedics for 13 years in a row by U.S. News & World Report.

Culture of Safety

Hospital for Special Surgery has an unparalleled reputation for patient care and safety. Because of its commitment to infection control and exclusivity to only orthopaedic procedures, HSS has one of the lowest infection rates in the country. HSS was the first NYC hospital to win the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence and the first hospital in the state to receive nursing’s highest honor five consecutive times.
